Solution: GoDaddy Managed WordPress Hosting site coming up blank?

I am starting to ‘dislike’ GoDaddy Managed WordPress hosting more and more. Their service and plans are very shady to me. This is one of the issues I have faced most frequently by using their Plugin Updater from their site settings.

If your GoDaddy Managed WordPress Hosting site coming up blank, or with a 500 error, here’s what can help you troubleshoot this:

  1. Use an SFTP client like WinSCP or FileZilla and use the information from the GoDaddy hosting panel to view your files.
  2. Edit the wp-config.php file, find WP_DEBUG, set it to true.
  3. Save the file and wait for the upload to finish.
  4. Once the upload is done, try to load your site in a browser. If it shows you a bunch of lines with file missing error, then it means that while GoDaddy’s system tried to finish updating the plugins, some files went missing. Download that plugin manually, and upload to the plugins folder.
  5. Now reload and see if the site loads well.
  6. Make sure to check the plugins page for any plugin that WordPress has disabled because it couldn’t find the files.
    • If it shows such notices, go to SFTP and delete those folder.
    • then go to WP and install them again.
  7. Now edit the wp-config.php file, find WP_DEBUG, set it to false.

That should take care of it. If it doesn’t help, contact GoDaddy support. I am really not happy with GoDaddy so far.
